My all time, top films growing up

Taking a trip down memory lane….

Growing up in a time of video tapes supplied by the video man, who would call on a Friday evening in this hatch back estate with videos piled high to the roof of the car. Fridays were the highlight of my and so many others, because of course school was out but most importantly the video man would be calling.

So for those of you that have never experienced the video man and don’t have a clue, the video man would be the “Just Eat” to the “blockbusters” if you like.

The rental service that he offered was 5 for £1.00 a pound was a lot then, we are talking about, when the bus fares were 12p to get on unlike the the £2.00 it is now. Omg am I really saying this, how old am I?

I don’t know about you, but I had these films that I would watch on repeat until I found another that just clicked. Here are a few of mine and why!.

Dirty Dancing
“Nobody puts baby in the corner”

Baby and Jonny

What a film? How many of you wanted to be Baby? I did I remember practicing the dance at the end. Then they made Dirty dancing 2 and it just wasn’t the same for me!

Stand by me…..

The film about friendship.
So many fond memories of this film especially the song, when ever this song comes on I know am not alone when I say, it reminds me of the film. Stand by me, the teachings in this film were the importance of friendships.

Ferris bueller’s day off

I don’t know about you, but I fell in love with how cool this kid was and I remember thinking what a cool way to pretend your sick, and he got the girl…. he was an all round pretty cool confident kid. Memories

The imitation of life.

Imitation of life
100 reasons why I loved this film, my cousin and I would watch this on repeat every weekend. Keep the things you value close. Great great great film.

American pie
just sat here now remembering am laughing. It had to be one of the funnest teen films of its time. And I do believe for years after, amongst other things, “I remember this one time in band camp” haha…. and in all fairness the rest where equally as funny too!

Alice In Wonderland
Classic fun creative away of letting children imagine outside of the box, encouraging differences.
”Am not crazy, my reality is just think differently”.

Home alone
who wanted to be maculey catkins? I think every kid on the plant and if you didn’t, who are you?

the list is endless and I could be here all week, I think most people would have had some great films they loved growing up, please share yours I would love to know.
Hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane.
